“Splendour of Xinjiang”

Australian Centre of Chinese Culture and Arts (ACCCA) will present “Splendour of Xinjiang” music, song and dance show in this December, performed by China Xinjiang Song and Dance Company.  It will be part of series Chinese minority nationality performing art tours promoted by ACCCA in Australia, of which ACCCA had successfully organised tours by China Tibetan Art Troup in 2005 and China Inner Mongolian Art Troup in 2007.

Located in north western part of China, Xinjiang is the largest minority ethnic people dominated area in China with very colourful and unique culture from Uygurs, Kazaks, Tartars, Kirgiz, Tajiks and Mongols who are known far and wide by the world for being excellent at singing and dancing.

Representing the highest level of art performance in the region, Xinjiang Song and Dance Company is one of leading performing art institutions in China.  The company has toured to over 80 countries in the world since its establishment in 1949 and has received great acclaim with many international awards that makes the company highly reputed and famous in the world.

This time, Xinjiang Song and Dance Company will present its original stylish music, dancing and singing programme to Australian audience, and from it we can taste real cultural spirit of this remote western region of China.  The programme has been carefully selected from the company’s best historical and current repertoires and the most of programmes had won international or national awards.

Xinjiang is also known to the world for its rich resources, beautiful lands, interesting histories and mysterious legends that always in dreams of many people with such a picture of celestial snowing mountains, fertile oasis, lovely grassland, endless moving sand desert, ancient silk roads, and lonely travellers on camels hearing nomadic songs from far away….

Further to interpret your dream for Xinjiang, along with the dancing and music programme we will also present you “Splendour of Xinjiang” Photographic Exhibitions in front foyer of Queensland Conservatorium Theatre in South Bank to display such wonderful landscapes, charming customs and life styles, as well as glorious economic developments of Xinjiang on 7 and 8 December 2009.
